Virtual Learning Expectations

Virtual Behavioral Expectations

Many of the same behavioral expectations still apply in the virtual classroom such as being on time and using appropriate manners.  However, there are some expectations specifically for virtual learning.

  • Be on time for class.
    • You are expected to be logged into your class at the appropriate time according to the schedule.
    • You do not want to miss important information so try to be on time.
  • When you enter the conference, enter muted.  This may already be done for you when you enter but, if not please mute your microphone.
    • This is to cut out extra noises from disrupting the teacher and the other students.
  • THINK about your workspace.... If possible be in the same location each day, free from distractions. Please do not have background noise (radio, television, people talking) going on during our classes. It is distracting to everyone.
  • DO NOT change your visual backgrounds. It can be VERY distracting to others.
  • Do not have pets or siblings present during the video conferences.
  • Dress appropriately for the video conference.  Think about what others will be seeing.
  • Stay Attentive: It is important that you pay attention to what is going on during our class time, this is the only live interaction you will have with your class. (turn off the tv and cell phone).
  • All conferences will be videoed.  Be sure that you are behaving appropriately at all times.
  • You must log in with your face showing. No icons.  Your face must be visible the entire time.
  • When you have questions, since you will be muted, let us know you have a question by typing that you have question in the chat section.  We will call on you as soon as we can.
    • After being called on, either we will unmute your microphone or you will and ask your question.
    • After your question is finished, please mute your microphone again.
  • If the chat function is not available due to screen sharing, unmute yourself and say that you have a question but keep in mind that only person should be talking at a time.  Try not to talk over each other.

When expectations are not met… We have VERY clear expectations and will be VERY consistent in dealing with rude/disruptive behaviors.
