Remote Learning to Continue

Remote Learning to Continue Through End of School Year
Posted on 01/22/2021
Remote LearningOn January 21, 2021, the River Mill Academy Board of Directors voted unanimously to extend remote learning for the remainder of the remainder of the school year. Our school will not be transitioning to in-person instruction on a modified schedule due to several factors.

This decision has been very difficult to make and is the result of much thought and discussion. River Mill's leadership has been committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff above all else. Due to the extremely high virus cases and hospitalizations in our county and state, an in-person schedule of any kind would place our school community at risk. Even with limited numbers, the inability to ensure proper social distancing in all our classrooms and common areas was also a prominent factor in this decision.

The consistent schedule, procedures and norms established by our classroom teachers during remote learning outweigh the benefits of returning to the building on a part-time basis at this point in the school year.

We acknowledge there is no substitute for 100% in-person learning and understand the hardships our families have faced and continue to face daily. Our staff has done a phenomenal job providing engaging online instruction and we are confident this will continue for the remainder of the school year. We ask for your continued support ensuring your student attends class daily and puts forth their best effort completing all assignments.
