About Title 1 Reading
Title 1 Reading is a federally funded program designed to provide supplementary services in reading and literacy skills for those who need it most.  Students in the Title 1 program are included in the regular classroom for reading and language arts.

Title 1 is available to kindergarten through 5th grade students at River Mill Academy who qualify for the program.  Multiple forms of feedback and assessments are utilized in order to select those students that qualify each school year.

Student participating in the Targeted Assistance Title 1 program receive extra support in developing foundational reading skills and strategies that are imperative to academic success.  Our goal is to focus on the five essential components of reading instruction:  Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension.  The students receive intensive instruction in reading for approximately 30 minutes in a small group setting.  Participating students are progress monitored monthly.
